10 AI agents to build for cold outbound... (+ how to build them)

an agentic model takes a task and works through the steps on its own.
that means you can build a specific worker for every stage of outbound, each running at a fraction of a cent per lead.
here are ten, and how to build each one...
qualifying and data agents:
1. the qualifier.
reads each profile and company against your icp and tags keep or drop with a written reason.
build it: put your icp rules and disqualifiers in the system prompt, pass one lead per call, and have it return a structured verdict with the reason.
run it over the WHOLE list before anything else touches it.
read the drop reasons in bulk, because when 4,000 leads get cut for the same cause, your icp was too loose.
2. the enricher.
takes a company name and returns the decision maker, their email, title, and relevant details.
build it: give it the company domain, let it read the site and public sources, and output the fields as a clean row.
tell it to return a confidence flag on the email so you know what to verify. cap the job with a budget.
3. the cleaner.
sanitizes messy company names, fixes broken fields, and dedupes against everyone already contacted.
build it: pass the raw csv and your contacted list, define the clean output format, and have it return a corrected, deduped file.
this is the CHEAPEST agent to run and it prevents keyword stuffed junk from landing in a merge field.
4. the list builder.
takes an icp description and assembles a targeted list from public sources.
build it: give it the icp and the sources to pull from, meaning job feeds, filings, directories, and maps.
let it scrape and structure, then output a deduped list. run the qualifier over its output before you trust it
research and writing agents:

5. the account researcher.
reads a company's site, news, and filings and returns the specific problem to open on.
build it: pass the domain, define what a usable opening looks like, and have it output two sentences you can drop straight into a message.
feed it the funding page AND the careers page, since both leak the current priorities.
6. the opener writer.
writes the first line of each message, tied to something real about the prospect.
build it: pass the enriched profile, give it three to five example openers that already worked, and have it return one line under 15 words.
hold it to naming a signal, not paying a compliment.
7. the signal scraper.
pulls a live buying signal per company, meaning a raise, a hire, a launch, or a contract.
build it: point it at funding wires, job boards, and filings, and have it output the freshest signal with a date attached.
the date matters, because a signal from this week is worth ten times one from last quarter.
operations agents:
8. the reply handler.
reads inbound, classifies intent, and drafts a response in your voice.
build it: define the intent buckets, meaning interested, pricing, wrong person, and not now.
set your tone, pass each reply, and have it return a draft plus a tag.
review its drafts for the first week, approving and rejecting, so it learns how you actually sell.
9. the deliverability monitor.
watches bounce, reply, and spam metrics per mailbox and flags anything degrading.
build it: feed it the daily sending stats, set the thresholds, meaning acceptance under 20% or a bounce spike, and have it output a list of mailboxes to pause.
run it on a schedule so a bad mailbox gets caught the same day.
10. the follow up agent.
decides who gets a follow-up, when, and with what angle.
build it: pass the thread history and the cadence rules, and have it output the next message and the send date.
cap it at two follow ups per thread, each carrying a new angle, so nobody gets a fourth bump into a silent thread.
how to build and chain them:
each agent is ONE worker so the pipeline is what makes them worth building.
build them one at a time, in this order, so each one is fed clean data by the last:
- the list builder and signal scraper pull the raw leads
- the qualifier drops the misses
- the enricher and cleaner prepare the survivors
- the account researcher and opener writer prepare the message
- the reply handler, follow up agent, and monitor run once sending starts
use claude code or an agentic model over the api, and give every agent one job.
an agent that tries to do three things does all three worse than three agents doing one each.
two guardrails apply to ALL of them:
- cap every job with a budget so a loop cannot run away and spend
- verify every email before it reaches a domain
smoke test each agent on 100 leads before you trust it.
check the output shape, the accuracy, and the cost per lead, then chain it into the pipeline and scale.
