The TikTok Warm-Up Strategy That Saves You From a Shadowban (7-Day Plan)

You set up a fresh TikTok account, post your first video, and get 12 views. Dead on arrival.
It's not your content. It's that TikTok has no idea who you are yet. A brand new account with zero history that immediately starts posting looks exactly like spam — so the algorithm buries it before anyone sees it.
The fix is warming the account up first. Acting like a real human for a few days before you ever post. Here's the exact 7-day plan I run, day by day.
The rule that governs all of it: warm up for 7 days, post 30+ times, then judge anything. Not before.
Days 1–2: act like a lurker, not a creator
For the first two days, you're not a creator. You're just a normal person scrolling. Do this every single day:
- Morning: scroll the feed for 10 minutes
- Evening: scroll the feed for 10 minutes
- Like ~20 videos
- Watch 10 videos all the way to the end — do NOT skip
That last one matters most. Full watches are the strongest signal you can send. And make sure those videos are from your niche — that's how you tell the algorithm which category you want to be sorted into. Watch cooking videos and TikTok thinks you're a food account. Watch what your target audience watches, and it starts placing you where you belong.
On day 2, keep doing everything from day 1 — and add a few things:
- Morning: scroll the feed for 10 minutes
- Evening: scroll the feed for 10 minutes
- Like ~20 videos
- Watch 10 videos from your niche all the way to the end (no skipping)
- Leave ~5 comments (real ones — avoid emojis and anything that reads like spam)
- Set your profile photo and bio
- Last thing, in the evening session: follow ~5 accounts in your niche
Do the following last, and only in the evening. Then watch your follows carefully: check whether those accounts actually show up in your "Following" list and on your profile. Refresh — if they disappear again, the account is likely still restricted. If that happens, avoid following anyone for at least 24 hours, ease off the liking, and generally just watch instead of interacting for a day. Let the account settle before pushing again.
Now you look like a real user with real interests and a real profile. Only now are you ready to post.
Day 3: your first post
Don't just log in and post. Run all your usual warm-up tasks first — scroll, like, comment, watch videos to the end. Keep behaving like a normal user throughout the day.
Then, in the evening session, make your first post:
- Post one video or image — something with high engagement potential, squarely in your niche.
- Then watch it: 700+ views means you're on the right track. Keep the pace.
Your first post tells you a lot. A warmed-up account that lands 700+ on the first try usually means the warm-up worked and the account is trusted.
Day 4 onward: ramp up
- Post 2 videos per day
- Keep interacting like you did in the warm-up phase — like, save, comment
- Don't stop the human behavior just because you're posting now
The interaction isn't a warm-up-only thing (more on that below). Keep it going.
The red flags that get accounts buried
This is where people kill their own accounts without realizing it:
- Following 50+ accounts on day 1 → instant red flag. Real people don't do that. Spread it out.
- Posting in the first 48 hours → wasted effort. The account isn't trusted yet, so the post goes nowhere and you've burned good content.
- 6 videos in a row under 300 views → the account is likely flagged or shadow-throttled. Cut your losses and start a fresh one.
How to know the warm-up worked
Here's the signal to watch for: at some point your For You feed starts showing you mostly content from your niche. Your feed looks like the feed of someone genuinely interested in that space.
That's how you know you're on the right track. It means TikTok has understood who you are and has categorized you correctly — which is exactly what you need before your own content can reach the right people. Usually this clicks around day 3, which is also when you're ready to post.
Keep the engagement going — every day
Don't treat the interaction as a warm-up-only chore you drop once you start posting. Keep doing the engagement tasks every day — scrolling, liking, saving, commenting, watching to the end.
Your account only benefits from it. Keep it up and you'll notice it directly: more reach on your posts over time. A real account never stops behaving like one.
The short version
- Warm up for 7 days before judging anything. Post 30+ times first.
- Days 1–2: scroll morning + evening, like 20, watch 10 to completion. No posting.
- Day 2 (evening): follow 5, comment 5 (no spam), set photo + bio. Check the follows stick — if they vanish on refresh, back off for 24h.
- Day 3: run all warm-up tasks during the day, then post in the evening session. 700+ views = good sign.
- Day 4+: 2 posts/day, keep interacting.
- Avoid the red flags: no mass-following day 1, no posting in the first 48h, restart if 6 videos stay under 300.
The account isn't ready when you are. It's ready when TikTok trusts it. Warm it up, then let it fly.
