quality bar is higher here: HD video, clean edit. instagram punishes sloppy uploads that tiktok forgives

brand account or human-looking account both work (i prefer human-branded)

show a face. faces beat faceless content most of the time

how to know the warmup is working?

PHASE 2 - THE METRIC THAT DECIDES EVERYTHING: SKIP RATE + HOW LONG PEOPLE WATCHED YOUR REEL (aka WATCH TIME)

FOCUS ON THIS -> ✅ skip rate + WATCH TIME -> decides your REACH.

✅ SKIP RATE = LOWER THAN ~30% ✅

✅ WATCH TIME = BIGGER THAN ~40-50% ✅

on tiktok the game is retention. on instagram the game is the SKIP + RETENTION.

instagram literally lists skip rate as the number one factor for your reach. it measures who scrolls past in the first second, who stays, and who finishes.

my viral reels ran a 22 to 25% skip rate. the lower you push it, the further instagram distributes you.

why it works this way: instagram distributes in waves, like tiktok, but slower and longer. test batch doesn't skip, bigger batch, bigger batch. and unlike tiktok, it comes back to re-test your reel with fresh audiences days later.

every post checklist:

hook tightened for the 1-second skip

every slow moment cut (skips happen mid-video too)

the last 3 seconds earn the full watch

PHASE 3 - THE ENGAGEMENT LAYER

first 1 to 2 days of every post:

reply to EVERY comment. every reply is a new engagement event

comment baiting works. give people something to correct, answer, or argue with

build for shares. shares beat comments on instagram (the exact opposite of tiktok)

PHASE 4 - WHAT TO POST: STEAL FROM TIKTOK, REBUILD FOR INSTAGRAM

Do not invent new formats on instagram. that's what tiktok is for.

tiktok is your main channel + testing lab. instagram is your amplifier.

my top 4 reels (418K, 142K, 95K, 67K) are ALL the same format, one that validated on tiktok first.

format checklist:

take a format that already proved itself on tiktok or even instagram (i prefer tiktok)

rebuild it natively (Edits app), in HD, tighter hook

post it as if it was born on instagram

the format is stolen. the file never is.

PHASE 5 - PATIENCE IS A GROWTH STRATEGY

the coldest mistake on instagram: deleting or ignoring a post because day 1 was slow.

❌ on tiktok, a video that flops (less than 200-1000 views) in 24 hours is dead.

instagram downloads convert LOW compared to tiktok.

a million ig views won't match tiktok's install rate. that's fine. it's a different job.
