how to start a conversation with literally anyone

You can change the entire trajectory of your life by saying hi to the right person.
Maybe it's your soulmate, or your business partner, or a new best friend.
Most people overcomplicate what to do in these situations.
What to say.
How to say it.
It's really not hard.
All you have to do is just say hi.
After all, they are just people too.
The reason you struggle with it is because you get scared and nervous.
So then you stumble over your words and look like a loser.
The reframe that helps me overcome those fears & nerves in those situations is simply saying to myself:
"What if that person was put there for a reason."
The Universe works very hard to make you happy.
You ask for all these incredible things - love, success, friendship, etc. - and it works overdrive to bring those things into your life.
You see a super cute girl in the coffee shop.
Maybe she was put there for a reason??
Maybe she is meant to be your soulmate...
I mean...people have met in crazier ways haven't they??
What if the Universe pulled all these strings to make that chance encounter happen.
It is counting on you to be BRAVE.
My most recent podcast guest (and one of my best friends), Marc Woolf, is one of the best people I know at walking into a room and talking to literally anyone.
Celebrities. Businessmen. Girls. Random people.
So I asked him how he does it.
He told me a story from literally an hour before we recorded that perfectly explains his approach.
Marc was getting his haircut in LA.
His barber also cuts one of his favorite actors: Christoph Waltz.
As Marc was getting out of the chair, Christoph was walking in.
Marc thinks his performance in Inglourious Basterds is one of the best performances he’s ever seen.
So he walked up to him and hit him with:
“Buongiorno.”
His iconic line from the movie.
Christoph immediately started laughing.
They shook hands and started talking.
Marc told him:
“You are one of my favorite actors of all time. It’s great to meet you.”
And they ended up talking for a few minutes.
That was it.
Marc wasn’t trying to get anything from him.
He didn’t shove a phone in his face or ask for a photo.
He just had something genuine to say and walked up and said it.
I think people massively overcomplicate talking to strangers.
A huge part of it is simply paying attention to the world around you.
If you recognize your favorite actor, talk about the movie you love.
If you see someone with a cool watch, tell them.
If you see a cute girl, say hi.
Marc’s advice was basically:
Be cool.
Be normal.
Be genuine.
And don’t be afraid to walk up.
What if they were put there for a reason?
The Universe is counting on you to be brave...after all, 20 seconds of courage could change your entire life....
