Imagine if you could go viral on social media whenever you wanted with the snap of your fingers

You'd never worry about money, building a business would be easy, you could choose who you work with rather than praying to work with clients who treat you like dirt. Your whole life would be different

Going viral on social media has built billion dollar brands, made countless people millionaires and one video getting millions of views can change the whole trajectory of your life

Its hands down the most wanted thing by people and businesses in this day and age

But everybody overthinks it

Truth is going viral comes down to understanding one thing and one thing only... Human psychology

Going viral is just convincing people to watch your video and humans behave in predictable patterns. So much so that you can use there behaviour patterns to get them to watch any video or content you produce, with them even thanking you that you made it

Once you understand that humans only watch or buy something because of psychological reasons pushing traffic and converting that traffic becomes insanely easy. So in this article I'm going to break down the 4 psychological layers that can make or break your social media posts, and this is applicable to whether you want to post on Youtube, TikTok, Instagram, X or any social media platform that exists

By the end of reading this you will be able to put these frameworks into practice and you'll be able to advertise any product you want. I promise you just understanding this will dramatically improve your content views almost instantly

So lets get into it

Demand Psychology

When you start making your content the first thing you need to think is, do people already care about the topic I'm making the video about

People don't watch your content because you put time and effort into it. They watch it because they want to receive something from it. Whether thats education, entertainment, a pain being solved etc

To figure this out first need to come to a clear conclusion on exactly who your making the content for

Say you have a weight loss supplement you want to promote. Write down:

  • Who the viewer is: "35 Year old mom struggles to lose weight after having a kid"
  • Whats their dream result: "Losing their fat and getting their body to how it was before they had kids "
  • What awareness level are they at: "They know its harder to lose fat after kids, They have tried every diet but nothings worked, they are unaware the mechanism of insulin and how it makes fat storage more difficult to get rid of"

Once you understand your target market your able to make a hypothesis about what they actually care about and actually might watch

But its still a hypothesis

So now you want to research whats already being consumed on the platform you are producing content on

Say it's TikTok. Search on TikTok for that specific problem you are talking about. Make note of the videos that have gotten over 100k views on accounts that have less than 20k followers. This is a clear indication that people are already consuming content and care about the topic on the platform your main that content

Now say you're promoting an AI software that does copywriting for you, and there are no signs of demand for that specific thing on the platform. Here you need to tie it to things people do already care about watching on that platform

for example they may not care about copywriting but they do care about making $10k/month online, so you tie it to that with the copywriting saas being the mechanism

If the demand is there build around it, if the demand isn't there do the extra work and connect It to something that demand is already around. Don't sit around trying to decide what people should care about, find where demand is and build around that

Understanding this effects everything else in the video

  • What hook you should use
  • What Angles you should use
  • What the video actually has to fulfil (Retention)

But even when you have decided this, your content is still competing against all of the other content around this. So now you have to make it obvious why the viewer should choose yours

Choice Psychology

Demand shows you there is attention around your topic. Choice psychology decides how much of that attention you can capture

There are likely thousands of videos around his topic on their FYP so why would they stop and watch yours

The question you need to answer is what hook will actually make them choose your video over every other one. You can do this by seeing what hooks the same or similar viewers are already choosing to watch

Hooks come in frameworks. For example "How to DESIRED OUTCOME even if BIGGEST FEAR" This is a proven hook framework that has worked in many niches

So now you do research in your niche and also other niches, and take note of every hook framework that is already being used. Taking a hook that works for a different topic and using it for yours is a great way to come up with winning hooks

But you need to understand why a hook works and if it genuinely goes with the topic, viewer and pain point you are trying to hit. Just because it works in one niche does not mean it will work in yours so its up to you to work backwards and decide why it actually worked in that niche in the first place

For example if you took the hook: "how to study so fast it feels like cheating"

The "so fast" is a desired outcome. Which works with losing fat because ideally fat people would snap there fingers and be in good shape, so that speaks to them

The "feels like cheating" implies it will be easy and there is some sort of cheat code they are missing. Which fat people also definitely want, they don't want it to be hard

Consumption Psychology

Your job is not over once you have the secured that there is demand around your topic and you've actually gotten them through the first 3 seconds of your video

The viewer now is constantly deciding whether they made the right choice, if you can get them to their desired outcome, if they should listen to your content and looking for every reason to satisfy their dopamine by swiping the next video. They literally itching to scroll, its your job to stop them with consumption psychology

This is about conveying authority so they trust your information, opening loops to keep them from scrolling, value dropping the whole time

You want to follow the AIDA format

  • Attention: Your hook
  • Interest: Why does your audience care
  • Desire: Build an emotional connection from your viewer to the desire they want
  • Action: prompt the viewer to take a SINGLE action with a CTA

Conversion Psychology

Now a completely satisfied viewer can watch your video or consume your content then never take any action after

Which is kind of pointless because your making content to get people to buy or take some sort of action

The problem most people have here is that there CTA is almost abrupt, suddenly after giving tons of value you are suggesting they do something like they owe you for the value you gave

Thats not how it works

The best CTAs KEEP giving value and actually makes sense to the viewer as a natural next step to achieving their desire

There are a few ways you can do this

Say you are doing a video about "How to make $10k/month from Youtube" and your product is a thumbnail and title SAAS

Instead of at the end of the video saying "you can get a saas that does your thumbnail and titles for you in my link"

You use it as an actual use case in the video. You position it like this:

You go through all the steps necessary to making a YouTube video and hone down that you title and thumbnails are a super important part, you need to know copywriting, consumer psychology, do research in the niche, make sure your thumbnail captures attention while also conveying the video gives value AND works with your title to do that

Sounds like a lot of work so then you naturally just say "So I created a software that does all this for you, based of years of uploading on YouTube and 100s of thousands of viral YouTube videos so you don't need to do any of that"

Its the natural solution and easy next step to there desire compared to the former choice of doing all that work

Making the friction as little as possible

Next Steps

Now you know the psychology of producing content after putting in reps you will be 10 steps ahead of most of your competition and able to come up with a plan to market any offer in the world

So the best thing to do is instead of making your own product, spending time researching, testing funnels and offers. Promote someone else's product that has already done the work for you
